Labradoodle Grooming in Lincoln
Labradoodles are big dogs with a big coat, and they need a groomer with the time, the space and the drying power to do the job properly.
Three coat types, three different jobs
Labradoodles come in fleece, wool and hair coats, and they are not interchangeable. A fleece coat is soft and wavy and mats moderately. A wool coat is dense and tightly curled, mats readily and takes considerably longer to dry. A hair coat is straighter, sheds more and needs the least work.
Because Labradoodles are large, a problem coat is a large problem. A matted wool-coated Labradoodle can be a two-hour job before any styling starts, which is why we ask about coat condition when you book rather than discovering it on the day.
Drying matters as much as clipping
A dense doodle coat that is not dried properly to the skin will mat within days, and can develop hot spots. Towel-drying and letting them air off is not enough on this breed.
We dry to the skin with a proper blaster, which also lifts out loose undercoat before it can felt. It is unglamorous and it is most of why a professional groom lasts longer than a bath at home.
How often should a Labradoodle be groomed?
Every six to eight weeks for fleece and wool coats. Hair-coated Labradoodles can often go ten to twelve.
Between visits, work a comb through the armpits, chest, collar line and rear at least twice a week. On a dog this size a slicker brush alone will never reach the skin, and the skin is where matting starts.

Bath, blast dry to the skin, full comb-through, clip and scissor finish, nails, ears and hygiene tidy.
De-shedding
For hair-coated Labradoodles carrying loose undercoat, particularly spring and autumn.
De-matting
Assessed honestly on arrival. We will save length where it is safe, and say so plainly where it is not.
Summer clip
A shorter, practical length for the warmer months. Never shaved to the skin — that coat protects them from sun.
